I'm Back!

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 3, 2008, 6:39 PM
Well, that was an interesting 2 years. Lots has changed. Thailand is a very interesting place to say the least. Roong and the girls are doing well. Roong has gotten promoted to level C-7 at her job. Yayyy! Palmy is just finishing her first year at University, and getting very good grades. Puk is going to start the 10th grade this year. She will now go to school here in our village, instead of spending 2 hours a day on a mini-bus going to Lopburi. She is quite happy about that.

Jobs are somewhat limited here for foreigners, so teaching English seemed the best way to go. I have just finished my first year teaching conversational English at the Penpattana private school here in Pattananikom. I guess it went well, they seemed happy enough, and renewed my contract. trying to teach a western language to eastern children is quite an experience. Nothing is familiar to them, and they have no point of reference from their own language to assimilate new information, so it is basically just all memorization. I try and work on their problem solving skills as much as possible. Parroting the words isn't enough, I need them to learn to use free thinking to create.

I have been trying to come to grips with digital art. I have been messing about with both Photoshop and Corel Painter X for this. It's been fun so far, but there is so much to learn.

  • Listening to: Lookpong (Haaa!)
  • Watching: The lost empire
  • Eating: Pad thai

It's Amazing....

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 17, 2006, 10:21 PM
It's amazing how fast life can go from cool to crappy so fast. We try so hard not to make mistakes, we try to be so careful with our dreams. But even then, something always seems to happen. Some bit of bad luck, some accident, or sometimes just some good old fashioned all-American stupidity.
I think those two drawings i posted will be my last for a while. I got alot of stuff to figure out. Gotta find my path again.
Many thanks and lots of love to all of you that have helped me along the way. I think i have improved a little in the past year. But it doesn't matter, because i had a blast with all of you while trying to learn.
Dokudel, PPGrainbow, FrozenBlossom...ladies, You're all that, and a box of crayons!! Thanx :thanks:

Calligraphy

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 7, 2006, 3:41 PM
:star: Hi all... I was wondering if someone might be able to help with a small bit of translation. As you can see, i have posted a piece of Calligraphy work by each of Kimies daughters. What the heck do they say? I forgot to ask. Ooops!!

* :blowkiss: to Kimie-chan, Koyu-chan, and Kono-chan!! *

:new: Koyu-chan has finally made a website  check it out here at [link] I can't read a thing it says, but i think she did a great job! :D
Aha!! Once again, the lovely kimie has come through. She has given me a quick translation of sorts for the calligraphy. She says this...
"Koyuki's one says 'Jiritsu to Kyosei' means about 'Independence and Living together'
and Konomi's says 'Tomoni Ayumu' means about 'Advance
Together'." :D If that doesn't give you a major case of Stimpiness, nothing will! Happy happy, joy joy!

A UNIX saleslady, Lenore,
Enjoys work, but she likes the beach more.
She found a good way
To combine work and play
She sells C shells by the seashore.

It seems i have made a new friend! :boogie: I know what you're thinking.."yeah right bub!" ...But it's true. Seems even the blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. She is a manga artist in Japan.
I will ask her if it's alright to post her web site on here, and add it below. I checked it out, and she is a great talent. I can only hope to be as good as she is some day. She has been published in several countries. I believe that there is a pic of the cover of her book on the site. But everything is in Japanese, and Babelfish is not the Primo translator i had hoped it would be. :pissedoff:

Mariko's site addy is [link] Be sure and give it a look!!!

Anyway, Other than that, there is not much news. I am going back to work on friday :boo: But you can only afford to goof off for so long. Besides, i was getting bored anyway. OK, that's it!
